15th Annual Chautauqua Tent Show--Lewes
Mankind’s age-old quest to understand the air and space and to travel through them will be brought to life during “America Takes Flight,” a Chautauqua [chu taw kwa] tent show that will take place from June 9th to 13th in historic Lewes. The program will feature historical re-enactors portraying Amelia Earhart on June 9th; the Italian astronomer Galileo on June 10th; Bessie Coleman, the first African-American female pilot on June 12th; and Charles Lindbergh on June 13th.

2nd Street Players Children's Musical
Second Street Players presents a Street Kids event, “The Ever After: A Musical” at The Riverfront Theatre at 2 South Walnut Street in Milford on August 9th, 10th, and 11th. The Friday night show has no set ticket price, families are asked to pay what they can afford, with show time at 7PM. On Saturday and Sunday, tickets are $10 and available the door, with showtimes at 1PM.

Bayhealth Free Osteoporosis Screenings
May is Osteoporosis Awareness Month, and Bayhealth offers bone density screenings in Dover, Milford, Middletown, and Smyrna. With the use of a machine that uses ultrasound technology, Bayhealth clinicians can measure the density of your bones in your heel. The heel is measured because its bone is similar to that found in the hip, where fractures occur most often. This screening is pain free and takes about 5 minutes to complete. Description: Quilting Event: “A Quilted Garden” Quilt Show in Oxford, MD
Bayside Quilters of the Eastern Shore Guild will host its second quilt show, “A Quilted Garden,” in tandem with the Oxford Garden Club’s Secret Gardens of Oxford Tour. The quilt show will be a three-day event running from Friday, May 31 through Sunday, June 2. The show will be held at two locations: the Oxford Community Center and St. Paul’s Church from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, May 31 and June 1 and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 2. There will be classes taught by National Quilt Artist Gyleen Fitzgerald as well as demos, exhibits, a boutique and appraisals.
Bayside Quilters is a quilt guild with about 180 members who meet the second Wednesday of each month at the Easton Fire House in Easton. The guild\'s members are committed to the creation, study and sharing of quilts as well as quilt making. Outreach programs are an important part of the guild’s activities. Talbot Hospice, Marine Mom\'s-Bethesda, 4H Hearts and Hands, Bear Hugs for Babies, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are just a few of the 22 organizations that have received donated quilts, pillows, receiving blankets and other items of comfort from the guild.
All of the quilts displayed at the show are ones that were made by members of the Bayside Quilters Guild. Some of the quilts and quilted items will be for sale to the public during the show.
Members of the Quilt Guild have asked Oxford residents to display quilts of all kinds over porch railings and fences during the weekend, providing a splash of color and promoting the beauty of Oxford.

Delaware Public Archives-Art Exhibit

The Bayhealth Diabetes Wellness Center announces the expansion of the diabetes education program.
Classes are offered at the Smyrna-Clayton Medical Services 315 North Carter Road, Smyrna, every Thursday from 2 - 4:30 p.m. in the conference room.
A one-day condensed class will be offered on the first Saturday of the month at Kent General Hospital pavilion 2. The classes will be from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Description: “Strong Seniors” is a free program for residents of Kent county ages 65 and over. “Strong Seniors” is a year-long membership program offered through a grant. Seniors who apply must show a household income of less than $25,000 for singles, less than $29,500 for a two person household and proof of residency in Kent County. The “Strong Seniors” program is a full membership and 16 individual scholarships remain. It includes full access to programs at the Dover YMCA for one year and includes the opportunity to participate in land and water exercise classes, an orientation to the fitness center, recreation time in any of the 3 pools available, access to the gymnasium, and the opportunity to socialize with others. In order to be considered for the program, seniors must show proof of residence in Kent County, provide proof of age and complete an Open Doors application; provide copies of 2013/2014 tax return, or a letter from the IRS stating that they do not file taxes and other financial documentation as requested.

Free Tax Help from the IRS
Dozens of free tax preparation sites sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service are now open in Delaware. The IRS partners with nonprofit and community organizations to provide free tax preparation services for qualified taxpayers. The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program offers free tax help generally to people who earn $51,000 and less. The Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Program offers free tax help to taxpayers with priority assistance to people who are 60 and older. Many sites have multilingual volunteers who can assist people with limited English skills. Trained and certified community volunteers can help eligible taxpayers claim valuable credits and deductions, such as the Child Tax Credit or the Credit for the Elderly. Many people may also get assistance in claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), a significant financial boost to low- and moderate-income workers. Volunteers can help eligible taxpayers file a tax return, even if they do not have a filing requirement, and specifically claim the credit to get the benefit. Worcester County August Art Exhibit
The Worcester County Arts Council is pleased to announce the August exhibit, featuring paintings by our member and accomplished local artist, Brigitte Bowden.
The opening, “Meet the Artist” reception, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Friday, August 9 from 5 pm – 8 pm at the Arts Council Gallery located at 6 Jefferson Street in Berlin. The exhibit will be on display till August 31, 2013.
